Job DescriptionThe Accounting Assistant provides a broad range of general accounting and administrative support to agency fiscal, payroll, and front office staff. Duties will focus on accounts payable and receivable, account reconciliation, petty cash reconciliation, journal entries, bank reconciliation, payroll assistance, front office coverage, scanning and filing, and other duties as assigned. The Accounting Assistant upholds and promotes the organization philosophy in all duties performed.HoursFlexible. full-time. 30+ hours per week (may work up to 40 hours if desired). Partial remote work offered.Experience and SkillsMinimum two (2) years of experience in accounting or one (1) year of experience with a degree in Accounting. Preferred two (2) or more years of experience in Accounts Payable. Completion of High School or equivalent. Must type 45wpm, perform 10-key by touch, be proficient in Word and Excel, and possess knowledge of standard business document styles. Well defined organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and flexibly. Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative work style and oral/written communication skills. Ability to handle intense situations, display good judgment and decision making skills, and remain calm and clearheaded under pressure. Able to work effectively with a variety of people and personality types regardless of age, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or socio-economic level. Must use reasonable precaution in the performance of one's duties and adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices while acting in such a manner as to assure at all times, maximum safety to one's self, fellow employees, clients, and other persons contacted through TMHA business. Conditions of employment include: Must be at least 18 years of age; possess a valid CA Driver's License, a minimum of 2 years driving experience, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets TMHA's current vehicle insurance requirements. May be required to utilize personal vehicle and auto insurance. Ability to possess and maintain good physical and mental health. Attendance is an essential function of this job that requires face-to-face interaction with clients and/or other employees. Must comply with a TB assessment (possibly a TB test if needed to confirm a negative tuberculosis result) and receipt of a criminal record clearance through fingerprinting. Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or request an exemption based on a documented medical condition advising against the vaccine or a strongly held religious belief or practice per the California Department of Public Health. Those who qualify for an exemption will be required to test for COVID-19 once per week and send the results to TMHA's Human Resources Director.
