ASAP About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Mindlance
Health to find a qualified Labor/Delivery RN in Bakersfield,
California, 93301! ID: 74604273 Shift: 12H Nights Nights, EOW,
first to float Description: Unit Notes:CERNER IS REQUIRED Unit: L &
D- Location: (BMH) Bakersfield Memorial Hospital- beds: 12 L & D
and 6 triage beds (overflow area where can potentially have
laboring patientsdo not deliver in this areamoved to actual L&D
bed)- Ratios: Per ACOG Guidelines (2:1) - MUST BE COMFORTABLE
TAKING 2 PATIENTS Certs: BLS & ACLS (MUST BE THROUGH AHA), NRP
(Neonatal Resuscitation Program), & AWHONN-Advanced- Licensure:
Current CA RN License- Doc System: CERNER preferred but not
required -Add'l Equipment: Pagers linked to call light system &
internal spectralink phones- Unit Orientation: 2 shifts on the
unit. Will also meet with the educator, as they have 3 nurses who
do 'file reviews' to ensure accurate documentation- Nurse Aides: No
nurse aides, but do have OB techs that help w/ C-sections & assist
as needed with baby cares.- Charge Nurse: Yes, have around the
clockdoes NOT take patients- Shifts/Hours: 12 hours; 7a - 7p/7p -
7a- Breaks: 1/2 hour break (clock-out); 3 - 15 min breaks per shift
(CA Law)- Weekends: Usually every other weekend (same as perm
staff)- Scrub Color: Provided by hospital- Tele: Post-surgery only
for the hour post-surgery C-section- Vents: N/A- IV Team: No- RT
24/7: Yes- Pharmacy 24/7: Yes- Types of patients: High risk
patients, some multiple births (up to triplets usually), run
insulin gtts, run mag drips; for C-section will circulate and
recover; no other surgeries on unit unless tubal or emergent hyster
needed; no elective abortions; will recover babies (skin to skin)
after delivery; have techs that help as well; make sure the nurses
are true L&D as their Post-partum nurses are separateneed
C-section experience; must be strong L&D! Have a lot of
protocols in place to help with carestry to give a couple days on
the unit as orientation; please note the charting is NOT by
exception onlythey must chart everything Have level 3 almost level
4 NICU that attends high risk deliveries. Must be used to a fast,
busy unit! Deliver over 300 per month Floating: Closed UnitNo
floating Cancellation can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week
assignment, 3 shifts for assignments that are less than 13 weeks
(Hospital may also pay full hours for a particular shift, in lieu
of cancellation). Charting BSN License to Trauma Level: Care Shift
, EOW, first to float Required , Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS
Certification, NRP Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Contract
