Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Case Management - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 01/26/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Opportunity – Utilization Review Nurse II – California Start Date: January 26, 2026 Location: California Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: Night shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM / 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM). Rotating schedule: three 12-hour shifts one week, followed by three 12-hour shifts plus one 8-hour shift the next week. Highlights: - Fully experienced level in utilization review and discharge planning for in-patient admissions - Work with InterQual guidelines to evaluate medical records and ensure appropriate admissions - Collaborate with physicians, attending staff, and payor agencies to optimize patient care and resource utilization - Coordinate discharge planning and provide consultation across multiple hospital services - Train and mentor junior Utilization Review Nurses and educate providers on documentation requirements - Conduct ongoing reviews, authorize procedures, and maximize reimbursement compliance Requirements: - Valid Registered Nurse license in the State of California - Level II: One year of utilization review/discharge planning experience in an acute care hospital or case management in an alternate medical setting - Required: One year of UR experience utilizing InterQual guidelines - Required: Experience as a case manager in California managing Medi-Cal patients - Preferred: One year of Emergency Department case management experience - Two years of acute care hospital experience as a registered nurse, with at least one year on a medical/surgical unit - Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment) Why It's a Great Opportunity: This Level II role offers the chance to take full ownership of complex utilization review and discharge planning functions while mentoring peers and educating clinical teams.
