Posted: 10/25/2022 Employment Type: Direct Placement Category: Software Engineers Job Number: 95489 Job Description To increase the capabilities of the Ground Control Station (GCS), which manages a number of edge company aircraft, we are looking for an experienced UAS ground station software developer. The fundamental interface between a human user and an aircraft will be created by you in code. It must guarantee flying safety, be easy to use, and be mission-focused. Users will be able to manage vehicle flight paths to accomplish mission goals while balancing aircraft performance limits, airspace constraints, dynamic weather conditions, datalink limitations, threat avoidance, and cooperation with eternal entities thanks to your programming.
Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and write code to expand the capabilities of the Ground Control Station (GCS)
• Work on a small team that handles all aspects of Ground Station Development including the Graphical User Interface (GUI), algorithm development, and the communications interface to the aircraft
• Coordinate with operational users and the flight test team to respond to emerging operator needs and identify opportunities to expand the capabilities of the GCS software to reduce operator workload, increase mission success, and maximize flight safety
  Required Qualifications
  
  • Strong understanding of the requirements, architecture, and design features of UAS ground control stations
  • Significant experience writing code for UAS Ground Systems
  • Understanding of UAS architectures and subsystems
  • Understanding of aircraft flight management including aircraft performance constraints and airspace constraints.
  • Proficient writing code in object oriented languages (e.g. C#/Java/C++)
  • Strong sense of ownership and drive in digging into complex problems
  • Understanding of Human Factors design for UAS command and control
  • Experience building simple and elegant graphical user interfaces
  • Network programming and understanding of the IP protocol
  • Experience with GIS mapping engines
  • Experience building a System Integration Lab (SIL) or Hardware Integration Lab (HIL) for Unmanned Aircraft
  • Experience supporting flight test
