Trust Automation, designs, engineers, manufactures, and supports control and power management systems for the most demanding defense, semiconductor, and industrial automation technologies. You will directly contribute to Trust Automation's success by optimizing firmware design and development for cutting-edge motion control and power conversion products.   • Manage firmware development for advanced motion control and power generation systems
  • Contribute to technical planning for future products, system architectures, component selection and development tools
  • Provide a vision for the future of the firmware department and lead the team towards that vision
  • Promote an excellent work environment for firmware engineers, minimizing distractions and facilitating technical focus
  • Assess and balance resources for project success, by meeting technical deliverables on schedule and within budget
  • Facilitation of Trust Automation's design and development processes, including design and peer reviews
  • Establish and lead continuous improvement initiatives for the firmware team, including:
  • Tool development and deployment
  • Optimization of workflows
  • Continuous integration and code analysis improvements
  • KPI and Best Practices development
  • New technology assessments
  • Assist with requirement derivation for embedded code development, integration and test
  • Assist with customer interaction and perform product and system demonstrations as needed
  • Manage sustainment and improvement of existing hardware/software


  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of embedded systems/firmware design experience
  • 3+ years of Firmware or Software team management
  • Embedded programming skills in C, C++, and/or assembly
  • Establishment and deployment of coding standards, workflows, and peer review process
  • Experience with agile development processes
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work effectively with team and management


  • Experience using Atlassian toolset (JIRA, Bitbucket,)
  • Dev Ops experience
  • Closed-loop control of motor torque, speed, and position experience
  • Control system design and analysis experience (i.e. - PID control theory)
  • Familiarity with communication interfaces/protocols: SPI, I2C, Modbus, USB, CAN, RS232/RS422/RS485, Ethernet, EtherCAT
  • FPGA/Programmable Logic design experience

  • Working conditions are normal for a High Tech Development and Manufacturing environment. Work will require weekend and/or evening work when schedules are impacted or communication is required with overseas partners. Travel to customer site may be required for program management, customer reviews, and problem resolution.
