Position Summary: Identifies and provides direct services to homeless individuals and families at the 40 Prado Homeless Services Center. Services may include assessment, information and referral, distribution of needed basic supplies, as well as on-site client supervision. Works with multiple service providers to enhance, augment, and coordinate service delivery to programs.Works with emergency services personnel, such as law enforcement and paramedics. Supports CAPSLO's mission by providing care and assistance to clients, encouraging and facilitating self-sufficiency. Essential Functions: 1. Performs client sign in and data collection process, including Client Track; maintains appropriate program attendance records and other records as required.2. Screens clients for entry to homeless programs, including; identifying inappropriate behavior, checking for possession of weapons and influence of alcohol or controlled substances. 3. Maintains a safe environment by continually monitoring the immediate site and premises.Enforces Homeless Services and site specific policies and procedures. 4. Performs HMIS intake and client assessment. Acts as a client resource by providing referrals to services available in the community.5. Maintains an assault free environment for the protection and safety of clients, staff and visitors by utilizing preventive measures. Makes emergency phone calls as necessary. 6.Manages clients by utilizing conflict resolution skills and crises management techniques. Together with co-workers makes on site decisions in the absence of the Lead. 7. Manages Homeless Services documentation including; client messages, daily log, client warnings, incident reports, CWS reports, filing, and other clerical duties as required.Completes necessary documentation in an accurate and timely manner. 8. Coordinates and oversees ongoing client housekeeping activities to ensure programs are clean and safe at all times, especially prior to clients vacating program premises. Addresses maintenance and housekeeping issues as they occur.May be required to operate day center laundry equipment. Distributes personal hygiene items to clients. 9. Provides, coordinates and oversees food service and coordinates meal provider staff regarding meals and food donations.Maintains proper sanitation practices, clean-up, pick up and delivery of food. 10. Maintains facility security, ensuring all doors and gates and left open. 11.Orients and interacts with various service providers and community members. Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Assists, as needed, in training and providing direction to other staff and volunteers. 2.Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required. 3. Must use reasonable precautions in the performance of one's duties and adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices; and act in such a manner as to assure at all times maximum safety to one's self, fellow employees, clients and children. 4.Performs other duties as needed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge 1. Must become proficient in Client Track and HMIS within one month of hire. 2.Must be able to use Microsoft Office Programs and navigate the CAPSLO Intranet for other essential communication. Skills 1. Must be capable of working with an at risk population for health and safety issues, including those with a previous history of involvement with the criminal justice system. Abilities 1.Must be willing and able to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays to provide staff coverage. 2. Must demonstrate ability to interact and supervise other adults and children in a fast pace environment, with a demanding and diverse population. 3.Must be able to read and write in order to follow written instructions and complete required paperwork. 4. Must be able to relate well to all people of the community regardless of color, national origin, religion, sex, pregnancy, age, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, disability or socio-economic level. 5.Must understand, uphold, and continue working toward accomplishing the mission, strategic goals and performance measures of the agency. Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment: Requires working indoors in a temperature-controlled environment with some exposure to copier and printer chemicals/fumes. The work environment may include some exposure to aerosol transmissible diseases (ATD).As part of an employee health and safety program, personal protective equipment is provided as needed. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical 1. Position requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, twisting, and bending.2. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. 3. Simple grasping and hand manipulation required as well as reaching above and below shoulder level.Travel: Some travel may be required to attend meetings, conferences and trainings. Required Education and Experience: 1. Requires six months experience providing direct human or health services to the economically disadvantaged, physically/mentally disabled, substance abuse/dual diagnosed individuals, the elderly, and/or at risk youth. 2.Education, volunteer experience and/or other related experience may be accepted. License & Certifications: Must have dependable, insured transportation, and a valid California Driver License (mileage to be reimbursed) and acceptable driving record. A DMV printout and proof of insurance will be required. Additional Eligibility Qualifications: 1.Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire. 2. Must submit proof of current vaccination status for measles, pertussis, and influenza (or a current, signed influenza declination form) in compliance with SB 792. 3.Must complete a health screening physical completed within 12 months prior to employment or 7 days following the date of hire, and a current TB skin test/Chest X-Ray. 4. Employment is contingent upon meeting all job requirements and background requirements: criminal history check (Inclusive of DOJ, FBI and Child Abuse), acknowledgement of child abuse reporting responsibility, criminal record statement (Form LIC508), etc. A criminal history clearance is required within seven days of completing the Live Scan.5. Upon hire agency staff will check the Megan's Law (or the current sexual predator website) to ensure each staff being hired is clear for employment. Program administrative staff will check the website annually to ensure all program staff are cleared to work. CAPSLO pays the full amount (100%) of the premiums to cover full-time employees, and half (50%) of the premiums to cover eligible part-time employees. Eligible employees may elect, at their own cost, to have medical, dental and vision insurance coverage for their dependents.Additionally, CAPSLO offers a Long Term Disability ("LTD") insurance program for eligible employees. Retirement Savings Plan CAPSLO offers eligible employees the opportunity to contribute a portion of their earnings to a Section 403(b) Retirement Plan. Employees are 100% vested upon enrollment into the plan. CAPSLO matches 60% of every dollar contributed up to an annual maximum of 15% of your annual salary (not to exceed IRS limits) after 6 months of employment.Holidays Twelve paid holidays during the course of the each calendar year. Employees also receive one extra workday off with pay as a "Personal Holiday." Vacation/Sick Leave CAPSLO awards 80-160 hours of vacation annually with a maximum accrual of 320 hours, depending on years of service. Paid Sick time is accrued at 8 hours per month (based on weekly hours) with a maximum accrual of 280 hours.
