CONTROLLER JOB SUMMARYThe Controller is responsible for overseeing the general accounting and financial reporting functions. Incumbent will implement and maintain a system of internal controls that will ensure that company assets are safeguarded, and all financial reporting is GAAP compliant. The Controller is also responsible for managing and refining all financial reporting for both internal and external customers. Provides leadership to the Accounting Team and works effectively with others to achieve objectives, solve problems, and to bring about win-win situations. CONTROLLER JOB DUTIES

  • Develops, motivates, and manages the operation of the accounting department team (payroll, billing, collections, and accounts payable) including all aspects of accounting: payroll, accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, collections, project cost accounting, revenue recognition, general ledger, financial statements, and analysis.
  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of month-end close and monthly financial statement reporting including bonus program accruals and true ups, cost accounting and margin analysis and variance analysis, while ensuring the integrity of all financial information.
  • Supports on-going accounting operations, such as revenue recognition, valuations, sales tax accounting and reporting, etc.
  • Responsible for weekly and on-going cash flow analysis, modeling, and forecasting.
  • Maintains documented system of accounting policies and internal control to ensure proper procedures are in place to prevent unauthorized transactions and to meet corporate requirements.
  • Oversees SOX compliant balance sheet reconciliation process.
  • Responsible for continuously improving the accounting processes to be more cost and time efficient.
  • Oversees and ensures proper recording of all tax related issues including sales tax (tax filing and reconciliation).
  • In coordination with the COO, facilitates and assists preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts including variance analysis.
  • In coordination with the COO, oversees annual audit of financials statement by the firm's outside CPA.
  • In coordination with the COO, responsible for annual insurance policy coverage renewals.
  • Manages business and regulatory licenses and investigates/resolves issues in coordination with the COO.
  • Conducts and coordinates special projects as assigned.Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, finance, business administration with 5+ years accounting experience.
    • Experience in a leadership role in accounting, preferably in the A/E or construction industry.
    • Experience and knowledge of accounting fundamentals, auditing experience, and proficiency in accounting software.
    • Experience with Deltek Vision accounting system, is a plus.
    • Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and bank working knowledge.
    • High service orientation, solid interpersonal communication skills and meticulous attention to detail skills.
    • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects and priorities.
    • This is a hands-on role, with the ability to step back and contribute at a big picture level.
    • Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations.
    • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
