WATER AND SEWAGE PLANT SUPERVISOR (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY) Final Filing Date: 4/2/2021 Application Methods: Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) By Mail Drop-off Under general direction of the Chief Engineer I, CF, the Water & Sewage Plant Supervisor, CF has responsibility for the operation of a water treatment and/or sewage treatment plant; maintains and repairs facility treatment equipment; maintains order and supervise the conduct of inmates; protects and maintains the safety of persons and property; instructs, leads and supervises inmates, and performs other related work. The designation as the Chief Plant Operator (CPO) will be at CMC's discretion. The CPO is responsible to provide daily direction to staff and inmate workers; this position is not designated supervisory. The CPO of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) shall be knowledgeable of statutory requirements for water treatment and distribution, and possess and maintain a Grade III Water Treatment and Grade III Water Distribution License issued by the California Department of Health Services. The CPO of the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) shall be knowledgeable of statutory requirements for sewage treatment and discharge. The CPO of the WWTP must possess and maintain a Grade IV Wastewater License issued by the California Water Resources Control Board. May be required to undergo a physical and pulmonary examination for the respirator program, participate in confined space training/entry and be certified and participate in the Backflow Prevention Program.

LIMITED TERM 12 MONTHS; MAY BE EXTENDED UP TO 24 MONTHS OR BECOME PERMANENT. Effective July1, 2020, in response to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Personal Leave Program 2020 (PLP 2020) was implemented. PLP 2020 requires that each full-time employee receive a 9.23 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 16 hours of PLP 2020 leave credits monthly through June 2022.     CMC has two physically separated housing complexes, commonly referred to as "East" and "West". An emphasis is placed on providing all inmates with programs for self-improvement. These programs include academic and vocational education, work skills in prison industries and inmate self-help groups.
    The Level III housing complex (East), which houses medium security general population inmates, is divided into four facilities. Each facility has its own dining room, classrooms, athletic fields, and two three-story housing units. The East housing complex has a fully licensed Correctional Treatment Center as well as a fully licensed 50 bed Mental Health Crisis Unit. The Level I and II housing complex (West) houses minimum security general population inmates in dormitory settings within three separate facilities. In addition, the West housing complex contains a Level I camp program for fire suppression, conservation and other community service work. Special Requirements
    • The position(s) require(s) a Waste Water-Grade IV License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.
    • The position(s) require(s) a Water Treatment-Grade III License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.
    • The position(s) require(s) a Water Distribution-Grade III License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired. Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter. WSPS - CHIEF PLANT OPERATOR- WTP- Must possess & provide a Grade III or higher Water Treatment AND Grade III or higher Water Distribution License issued by the CA Dept. of Health Services. WWTP-Must possess and provide a Grade IV or higher Wastewater License issued by the CA Dept. Resources control Board.
