          Position Description Job Summary Under the general direction of the Director of Technical Services (DTS), this position coordinates and provides technical support and direction for a wide variety of events in the Center. This position coordinates the technical requirements for performances and rehearsals in the PAC as well as special events held in the main hall. This includes a broad range of production support functions which include analyzing the necessary technical and production requirements involving staffing, lighting, sound, staging, rigging and special needs for performances, rehearsals and events, making decisions on day-to-day operations and completing special projects as needed. This position will help serve as liaison between the PAC and company technical personnel to negotiate contract technical requirements, determine accurate estimated technical charges for clients, and interact with artists, presenters, and clients within and outside the university. This position will be accountable for determining and scheduling the necessary classifications and quantity of crew required to set-up, produce and strike shows and events, as well as determine priorities, provide work direction to technicians, stagehands, and student assistants, research, analyze, evaluate, and develop solutions to complex technical and production situations, and perform other duties as assigned. Department Summary The Performing Arts Center (PAC) consists of three venues: a 1,286-seat concert hall, Harold Miossi Hall a 180-seat recital hall and a 350-seat rehearsal/ performance pavilion. It hosts events including symphonies, choral concerts, contemporary and pop music events, plays and other theatrical performances, dance programs, recitals, opera and light opera, touring shows and community productions. It also supports other uses, including workshops, business meetings, banquets, recording sessions, trade shows, conferences, receptions, funerals, art exhibits, church services, weddings, etc. Key Qualifications
          • Ability to deal effectively with a diverse mix of both professional and non-professional event clients.
          • Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism.
          • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
          • Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
          • Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and effectively write and present reports. Education and Experience
            • Five years of experience working for a theatre, repertory or stock company engaged in the applicable production specialty such as costume construction, stage and set construction, lighting production, and/or sound/audio production. (12 units of applicable college course or 6 months of professional training may be substituted for 6 months of required experience.) Salary and Benefits Anticipated Hiring Range: -$55,000 - $70,000 per year
